Development of 7 mews houses, London E2
For this development the architects designed the bathrooms with just glass separating them from the bedrooms. To create an industrial look they featured copper pipework and a rough, concrete effect, micro cement on the floors, walls, vanity units and shelves. The micro cement aesthetic was designed by us following the brief from the architect. To finish it was protected from water ingress with good sealer coats. The colour was 50% Charcoal. All bathrooms were different with some having integrated dressing rooms. A total of 255 m2 was covered in micro cement. The entire substrate, including the floors, was Wedi Tile Backer Board with its texture smoothed off by the builders using tile cement. Wedi Board is quite soft so for the floors we recommended the application of fibreglass mesh set in epoxy to create a strong "skin" making them suitable for foot traffic.
